Recent Polymer Price Reports
Polyurethane Feedstocks March 2019
Polymeric MDI downswing bottoms out / Pure MDI and TDI plunge / Weak automotive sector to add pressure in April
Engineering Recyclate March 2019
Weak volume calls from automotive industry depress prices / Some further discounts in April
Standard Recyclate March 2019
Prices largely remain at previous month's level / Only small hikes on individual grades / Recyclers aim to catch up on missed price increases
North America February 2019
Most markets in a rollover / Producers unable to push through hikes for PE, PVC or PS / PP still weak / Engineering plastics prices stable / Increases expected in March
Standard Thermoplastics Trend March 2019
Producers hope for improvement in margins following C2 cost increase / PE and PVC consumers respond by holding back on buying / Subdued demand caps PP increases / Styrenics firmer
China Engineering Thermoplastics February 2019
Weak market on Chinese New Year holidays / Feedstocks register slight increases / Small fluctuations in polymer prices
China Standard Thermoplastics February 2019
Impacts from Chinese New Year holidays / Most polymer prices fall / HDPE for injection moulding and PET increase / Market unlikely to recover in March
Russia February 2019
Polyolefins generally giving way / Demand remains rather weak
Composites/GRP February 2019
Resins prices flat / March may see higher prices / Glass fibre unchanged / Demand points clearly upwards
Engineering Thermoplastics February 2019
Depression in car industry hits hard / Prices fall in many places / Only quarterly agreements continue to stabilise / Automotive expected to remain weak / Further price erosion likely in March
Polypropylene February 2019
Producers' hikes falter / Slack demand leads to weak rollover / Increases hardly avoidable in March
Polyethylene February 2019
Complete lack of stimulus / Rollover dominates the picture / Price increases probable in March
Styrenics February 2019
Prices bottom out / Slight increases for polystyrene / Processors stock up inventories / Players expect bull market to begin in March
PET February 2019
Weak rollover predominates / Demand still very subdued / Notations expected to pick up in March as PX firms
PVC February 2019

New categories for petrochemicals

The important role petrochemical feedstocks and other starting materials play in price developments for polymers is becoming increasingly evident. To reflect this, PIE is now tracking and publishing both contract and monthly average spot prices for the most important petrochemicals. In addition, we will analyse the volatility of spot prices as well as the level of supply and demand.

Separate tables for Feedstocks (ethylene, propylene, styrene, paraxylene) and Base Chemicals / Aromatics (oil, naphtha, benzene) will bring market developments into the spotlight.
