“Mainz had its plastics exhibition”: with this journalistically unspectacular opening sentence, PIE’s parent company KI Group began its success story on 1 April 1971. That was half a century ago – a virtual eternity in the fast-moving media business. A lot has also happened at KI Group since then: the four densely printed typewritten pages on yellow paper (which were never an attempt to emulate the British “yellow press”) have become a comprehensive industry-information service in the meantime – across a range of media and leading the market in many areas.

For some time now, KI Group has reached its readers not only in printed form – even if the eight-page print editions are still probably one of the most widely read news sources for decision-makers in the European plastics industry. KI Group had an online presence as early as 1998, and since 2004, the portals have published important business news about companies, people and markets on a daily basis. The range of KI Group’s information portfolio has also grown significantly: since 1981, our price reporting has become increasingly comprehensive and detailed, capacity database Polyglobe went online in 2011, and two years ago, the professional development and seminar segment “Knowledge & Training” was launched.

But there’s one thing that has not changed in the past 50 years: the commitment to quality journalism that KI Group pursues without any ifs and buts.
