Dear readers,
John Murphy was a well-known and respected plastics journalist and consultant in the UK. Along with being the founder and longtime publisher of “Plastics Industry Europe” – what PIE was called in its early history – he paved the way to today’s successful PIE print edition, as well as the entire online service. In April 1993, there were some major changes for the publication:
- Plastics Industry Europe became “Plastics Information Europe”.
- From this time on, German publisher Kunststoff Information took over PIE from the Croydon-based publishing house in the UK.
- Since then, PIE has been covering pan-European developments in the plastics industry.
- There were several layout and logo changes, but PIE’s print content remains in an 8-page edition, bringing relevant and timely news to subscribers.
Following that, online services complementing the traditional print newsletter began at www.pieweb.com. Daily online news was added in 2006, along with expanded coverage of the global plastics industry as a part of KI Group.
We hope that you will continue to regard PIE as a trusted business tool and valuable source of information on the European plastics industry. We remain committed to bringing you up-to-date news on the important happenings across Europe and further abroad when worldwide events can impact European players. This includes PIE’s in-depth market information about pricing, trends and regulations.
With kind regards,

Ulrike Mau
PIE Editor-in-Chief
